Organteq 2 is a physically modeled pipe organ from Modartt, the developers behind Pianoteq, and it takes the same approach that made their pianos remarkable: rather than playing back recordings of an instrument, it calculates the sound in real time from a model of how pipes, wind supply, and the surrounding room actually behave. For organists this matters enormously, because a real pipe organ is not a fixed set of sounds. Pipes interact with each other and with the wind system, the room contributes as much as the instrument, and the mechanical action produces its own noises. A physical model reproduces all of that behavior naturally, while a sample library can only approximate it.

The centerpiece of Organteq 2 is the organ builder, which lets you assemble your own instrument by selecting pipe ranks and stops, assigning them across divisions and the pedalboard, and configuring the overall specification to suit the repertoire you play. Because nothing is sample-based, adding stops costs no memory and imposes no loading time. You can also adjust wind supply characteristics, tracker and key action noise, pipe voicing, temperament and tuning, and the acoustic environment the organ sits in, moving from an intimate chapel to a large cathedral with a single control. Organteq 2 runs standalone or as a plugin, supports standard MIDI organ consoles and pedalboards, and installs in a fraction of the disk space a comparable sampled organ would require.

Build Your Own Organ Specification

The integrated organ builder lets you choose pipe ranks and distribute stops across manuals and pedals to create an instrument matched to the music you play, whether that is Baroque counterpoint, French Romantic repertoire, or contemporary service music. Because the sound is modeled rather than sampled, a large specification loads instantly and uses almost no memory.

Realistic Pipe, Wind, and Room Behavior

Modeling captures the interaction between pipes, the response of the wind supply under load, tracker and key action noise, and the acoustic character of the surrounding space. Adjustable temperaments and voicing let you match historical tuning practice, and the room control moves the instrument from a small chapel to a cathedral without switching libraries.
