
u-he Bazille is a semi-modular virtual synthesizer built around digital oscillator techniques that most software instruments never touch, combining phase distortion and frequency modulation synthesis with a full patch-cord modulation system. Where most synths give you a fixed signal path and a modulation matrix, Bazille gives you a panel of modules and a bag of virtual cables, letting you route almost anything to almost anything else. The result is an instrument that rewards experimentation and produces sounds that are distinctly its own: metallic, complex, evolving, and often impossible to reproduce on a conventional subtractive synth.
Bazille's core consists of four digital oscillators capable of phase distortion, fractal resonance, and cross-modulation, feeding two multimode analog-modeled filters. Beyond the oscillators and filters, the instrument provides multiple envelopes, LFOs, a mapping generator for drawing custom modulation shapes, quantizers, logic and math processors, and a morphing sequencer, all freely patchable. Because modulation sources and audio signals share the same patching system, you can use audio-rate modulation for FM and ring modulation effects or route control signals into unusual destinations. An onboard effects section and a substantial factory preset library make it playable immediately, while the patch panel keeps it endlessly deep for sound designers.
Phase Distortion and Digital Oscillator Synthesis
Bazille's oscillators use phase distortion and fractal resonance techniques rather than standard analog waveform generation, producing timbres with a hard digital edge and complex harmonic content. Cross-modulation and FM between oscillators extend the range further into bell, metallic, and inharmonic territory that subtractive synthesis cannot reach.
Full Semi-Modular Patching
Virtual patch cords connect modulation sources, audio signals, logic processors, quantizers, and the mapping generator in whatever configuration you can imagine. Feedback paths, audio-rate modulation, and generative patching all become possible, turning Bazille into a sound design instrument rather than a preset player.
